The Cooperative Month Celebration Cooperatives with the theme, โPioneering the Path to Recovery Amidst Modern Challenges of Climate Change and Food Securityโ was conducted in San Agustin, Romblon. The industrious cooperatives from all around the Province of Romblon attended the event and activities. The open remarks were delivered by SB Gil A. Madrilejos in which he greeted all attendees, organizers and volunteers. He reminded each and every one to enjoy the activities and the beauty of San Agustin, Romblon.
Afterwards, the good Municipal Mayor Esteban “Denon” SF Madrona, Jr. stated an inspirational message. He extended gratitude that San Agustin is chosen to host Ragipunan for this year. This way, the beloved hotels/restaurants and business establishments had an opportunity to cater for the visitors and show the sincerity of the town. Mayor Denon also promoted the Tourist Attractions of San Agustin: Biaringan Island and Zip-line, Blue Hole (which is the only Blue Hole in the Philippines), Busay Falls, Trangkalan Falls, Cabaliwan Peak, D’Sail Port Terminal of San Agustin, D’Dome and plenty more future attractions for visitors and tourists. To whoever is going to take over, Mayor Denon is hoping that all the improvements will be continuously supported. He emphasized that change is not scary if it is for the betterment of the townspeople.
Another message and words of wisdom came from the considerate and supportive Vice Mayor Norman M. Fatalla. He expressed his sincere gratitude in line of the hope that all the cooperatives can continuously help and uplift members. He sent his best wishes to the cooperatives towards more successful programs and activities. Then, to officially end the program, the Chairman of Romblon PCDC Romulo Fetalvero delivered the closing remarks. He said that the Ragipunan is hosted to promote the goals of the cooperative and gain members in order to help more people in the province. The cooperative is continuously hosting programs to economic recovery due to pandemic especially in food security. The first day of the Ragipunan involves discussion of the minutes of the 16th Ragipunan, 16th Provincial Congress and its financial report, state of cooperatives in Romblon, modern challenges of Climate Change, Food Security, Partner Agencies Message and Cooperative Insurances. The plenary session as well as bidding for the next congress venue was also coordinated.
The second day of Ragipunan includes community service activities which is very significant and relevant. The cooperatives proceeded to conduct a tree planting activity in Niamsan Cagbo-aya, San Agustin, distribution of food packs for PWDs and end with a tour to see the beauty of the town and enjoy the rest of the day.
“Lahat aasenso, sama-sama lahat tayo ay magtatagumpay”.
